Leadership Lab undertook the needs analysis and design of a customised leadership network development programme for Canterbury Health called 2020 Leaders in 2013 and 2014. The 2020 Leaders programme was designed to harness the extensive investment made by CDHB in external leadership development experiences and support senior health leaders to implement and influence throughout the Canterbury Health System. From November 2014 the first cohort of 24 senior medical staff participated in the first cohort of this programme through to October 2015. Currently the 2020 leaders programme is being fine-tuned based on the developmental evaluation of cohort 1 and being positioned within CDHB’s leadership strategy for future implementation alongside its other suite of capacity building initiatives.

“The CDHB is a large complex organisation which operates within a myriad of social, political and financial challenges. In this period of recent upheaval and constant change we need more of our staff to consider themselves as ‘leaders’ and support them to make this change. Leadership Lab responded to this challenge and we have now been collaborating in the leadership space for the past two years. Their leadership knowledge and skills are exemplary but that’s not what sets them apart. It’s the passion, enthusiasm and commitment they bring to the task that elevates them above others. They’ve worked incredibly hard to really understand our organisation and to ensure the programme we’ve developed is aligned to our vision, culture and operational reality. We feel incredibly fortunate to be on this leadership journey with Leadership lab and can certainly recommend them – unreservedly.”
